The School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) is seeking to establish a pool of Design and Technology Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during Term 4, 2025 and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. The Role SIDE is seeking to appoint one or more experienced, vibrant, innovative, and culturally responsive Design & Technology teachers to join our expanding team. SIDE is currently delivering an exciting program of Design and Technology woodwork and technologies to remote and regional schools using digital web-conferencing technology. The students participate in lessons in the workshop at their school with the support of trained, locally based supervisors and interact with the SIDE teacher via a video link. With high demand for our courses, we are expanding our team of Design & Technology teachers to deliver the courses to additional schools. For this innovative role, we are seeking teachers with excellent pedagogy and classroom practice and a desire to contribute to improving outcomes for students in regional and remote Western Australia. You will ideally have strong communication skills, combined with a desire to learn or build on your capacity to deliver online lessons. This role will involve occasional travel around Western Australia for student contact and workshop safety and maintenance purposes. This may involve travel to regional and remote locations and overnight stays. A degree of flexibility and the ability to effectively plan and prioritise to balance the requirements of the role will be highly regarded. A Western Australian driver’s license is essential. The successful applicant should have experience in delivering engaging Design and Technology courses in the Woodwork and Automotive context. Electronics, Jewellery and Leather skills would be desirable. A high level of Information and Computer Technology (ICT) literacy is also highly regarded for this role. The ability to troubleshoot and maintain workshop equipment is highly desirable. The successful applicants should have a strong understanding and extended experience of workplace safety in a workshop context, with the demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments and set up a workshop to meet stringent Work Health and Safety standards. SIDE has a main campus in Leederville and additional workshop spaces at Eaton Community College. By negotiation, you may be required to work at any one of these or future venues. The ability to work as a dynamic team member is essential.
