Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Teacher – Gloucester St Joseph’s Primary School, Gloucester is seeking a Permanent Part Time (0.2 FTE) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Teacher to join the team in January 2026. Job type: Permanent – Part TimeLocation: GloucesterIndustry: Education, Childcare & Training Job Description The role of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Teacher is to support students and the school community in curriculum, culture, spirituality, learning and wellbeing. The teacher shares responsibility with all staff for the Catholic identity and mission of the school and for promoting the Diocese of Maitland‑Newcastle’s Reconciliation Action Plan – Reflect. Promotion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within the school will be essential. The teacher will be involved with the formation and implementation of Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, aimed at improving educational outcomes and supporting educational pathways. The teacher reports to the Principal and liaises closely with classroom teachers, curriculum teams, wellbeing teams, ministry teams and Learning Support teams. Duties may vary according to the needs of the school. Desired Skills and Experience Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively support the Catholic ethos and culture of the school. (For Primary or Teachers of Religion positions you must also be Catholic) Ability to plan, prepare and assess contemporary teaching programs that meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students. Demonstrated ability to utilise assessment and school data to optimise outcomes, focusing on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Ability to collaborate with staff and the wider community to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes, demonstrating an innovative and agile mindset that supports continuous improvement. Established and ongoing links with the local and/or wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Qualifications Four‑year trained teacher. Being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification. Active NESA Accreditation. Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC). Completion of anaphylaxis training. Current Senior First Aid Certificate. Current unrestricted Class C Driver's Licence. Willingness to comply with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy (Category B or D). Conditions of Employment Salary is in accordance with the New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
