The business is a heritage brand within the industry, known for its high-quality products, great culture, and flexible development opportunities. Short Description We are seeking a Commercial Manager to take ownership of a rapidly growing Pet Ingredients portfolio. This is a true end-to-end category role – from sourcing and building supplier partnerships overseas, to identifying new customer opportunities locally, and shaping the future strategy of the category. The Role Reporting to the Head of Sales, the Commercial Manager will: Take ownership of the Pet Ingredients portfolio, managing and expanding relationships with international suppliers. Source and secure high-quality ingredients in a restricted import environment, ensuring regulatory compliance. Leverage existing networks of customers and suppliers to grow the Pet Category across Australia. Work closely with Account Managers to develop new customers and increase sales, gross profit, and volume. Travel overseas to supplier origins, bringing new ingredients and insights back to the local market. Build and execute category growth strategies, including diversifying supplier lists, expanding the product range, and exploring opportunities in pet treats and global markets. Provide market intelligence and strategic recommendations to influence the future direction of the category. Key Skills The ideal candidate will bring: Proven experience in the pet/animal feed ingredients industry, with strong networks across both international suppliers and local customers – this is critical to success in this role. A background in procurement and sourcing, with commercial sales exposure and the ability to build trust quickly on both sides of the supply chain. Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to identify new opportunities and bring them to market. Experience in category management (highly regarded) or the ambition to grow into such a role. A deep understanding of food safety requirements, permits, and regulatory compliance. Commercial acumen, resilience, and the drive to build something from the ground up.
