The Role: Our equities research group is seeking an Australian equity research associate to be based in our Sydney office. The Associate will report to the Head of Research to cover companies in various industries within Australia. The analyst will be required to write concise and clear reports identifying the investment risks and opportunities for a company. They will be responsible for pitching investment ideas internally in accordance with our investment methodology. Preference will be given to candidates with strong written and communication skills. Responsibilities: Company analyses: Produce written value‑added research that encompasses fundamental analyses of a company’s competitive market position. Industry analyses: Analyse a specific industry and identify the competitive forces acting within the industry. Clearly communicate your view on why some companies are better positioned than others to build or retain their market share within the industry. Portfolio analysis: Work within the equity analyst team to discuss company, industry and market views, to help the team form a view in framing and building our model portfolios. Requirements: Market knowledge: A fair understanding of macro‑economic theory and the key drivers both to the economy and share values within the equity market. Fundamental analysis knowledge: An understanding of fundamental research and an appreciation of discounted cash flow analyses in determining a fair value of a company. Minimum of bachelor’s degree. Some working experience as an associate analyst in the sell‑side, buy‑side or independent equity research fraternity is preferred. However, we will consider individuals with no specific equity research experience provided they demonstrate a strong knowledge of financial analysis and a passion and aptitude for equity research. Work well within a team and be capable of respectfully accepting and providing constructive feedback. Make timely decisions under demanding deadlines, sometimes with incomplete information. Be passionate about looking at stocks from a long term, valuation based perspective. #J-18808-Ljbffr
