Payroll Consultant - Fully Remote Available Payroll Consultant – 6 Month Contract Location: Can work Remote | Australia Take the lead on payroll system improvements and compliance projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Payroll Consultant on a six-month contract to support a large-scale payroll system transition. This role combines hands-on payroll operations , system upgrades and configuration , and compliance oversight to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant payroll outcomes. As a key member of the Payroll team, you’ll optimise payroll processes, lead and support improvement initiatives, and act as the subject matter expert on payroll systems, taxation, superannuation, and employment legislation. You’ll guide the team through system enhancements and process improvements while supporting fortnightly payroll operations. Key Responsibilities Review and analyse payroll compliance matters; update procedures and processes as required Lead and support payroll system implementations, upgrades, and integrations with HRIS and finance systems Act as subject matter expert for payroll-related projects, including system configuration and migration Proactively manage payroll risks and contribute to a strong culture of compliance Test and support system functionality upgrades and process improvements Support end-to-end payroll processing (fortnightly and/or monthly) when required Review payroll-related taxes, superannuation, bonuses, and deductions for compliance Ensure adherence to employment legislation, awards, and EBAs Prepare payroll tax, PAYG, STP, and other statutory reporting as required Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancement Develop, maintain, and document payroll procedures and policies Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data integrity and seamless payroll operations Support delivery of accurate reporting for STP, Superannuation, WorkCover, and Payroll Tax About You Significant proven payroll experience within Australia, with in-depth knowledge of legislation, taxation, and superannuation Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience in payroll system upgrades, configuration, and migrations Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities Experience delivering payroll projects and initiatives Ability to interpret EBAs and awards Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Proficiency with payroll systems – Chris21 or Aurion essential Why You’ll Love This Role Work on a large-scale payroll transition and improvement projects Flexible and hybrid working arrangements Opportunity to apply your expertise and influence payroll operations and compliance Collaborate with a supportive and professional team Gain experience in system upgrades, integrations, and process improvements How to Apply If you’re ready to take on a challenging and rewarding payroll consulting role, we would love to hear from you.
