Communications & Sponsorship Coordinator Basketball Association of Newcastle Limited – Broadmeadow NSW Play a key role in growing the game and community of basketball in Newcastle Newcastle Basketball is seeking a passionate Communications & Sponsorship Coordinator to help grow our brand, strengthen community connections, and share the enthusiasm of our Basketball Association across the region. As one of the Hunter’s largest and most dynamic sporting associations, we’re home to grassroots players through to elite NBL1 athletes — and we’re looking for someone who can help tell our story with energy and authenticity. About the role This is a hands‑on, varied role where you’ll lead the charge in promoting Newcastle Basketball across our community and digital platforms. You’ll create engaging content, manage our social media presence, support sponsorship relationships, and promote the events and programs that make Newcastle Basketball such a vibrant community organisation. You’ll work closely with the General Manager and internal teams to support the delivery of marketing strategies, manage brand communications, support sponsorship activities, and foster strong community relationships. Key responsibilities include: Create, schedule and publish engaging content across social media, and website. Monitor engagement, respond to online interactions and prepare monthly analytic reports. Contribute to marketing and communication strategies to support organisational goals. Maintain and update the website. Assist the General Manager with media relations where required, including coordinating interviews, drafting press releases and managing event coverage. Support sponsorship and partnership activities, including proposals and delivery of sponsor benefits. Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses and community partners. Promote major events, competitions and community programs. Monitor campaign performance and provide insights to improve engagement. Collaborate across teams to ensure consistent branding and messaging. Foster relationships with schools, councils and local organisations to drive participation. About you You’re a confident communicator with a flair for storytelling and a passion for sport. You thrive in a dynamic, community‑focused environment and enjoy seeing your creative ideas come to life. To succeed in this role, you’ll bring: Qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience in marketing, social media, communications or events coordination. Strong writing, editing and content creation skills. Proficiency with Canva and social media analytics tools (Meta Insights, Google Analytics). Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills. A Working with Children Check and NSW driver’s licence. Experience in sports or community‑based organisations. Basic graphic design or video editing skills. Experience supporting sponsorships or partnerships.
