Location: St Michaels College – Merrimac (S) Start date: 27 / 01 / 2026 Work hours: 31.25 hours per week Salary: $39.44 / hr + super (School Salary Scale) Status: Term Time Continuing Ad close date: 25 / 11 / 2025 Contact: (07) 5525 4000 About the opportunity The Ready to Learn Room (RTL) Co‑ordinator plays a pivotal role in providing effective leadership that promotes a culture of co‑regulation (to teach self‑regulation), modelling of positive and pro‑social behaviour, and respectful relationships across the College. This position is central to supporting the holistic development of students by fostering a safe, inclusive, and restorative learning environment where every student is encouraged to engage in self‑regulation, and to take responsibility for their choices and actions. The co‑ordinator embraces the principles of responsible thinking and trauma‑aware practices to support positive behaviour and learning. The co‑ordinator works closely with the Pastoral Engagement Team. The co‑ordinator actively models and embeds the principles of the Responsible Thinking Process (RTP), ensuring that the philosophy is consistently understood and applied by both staff and students. By championing the values of accountability, reflection, and growth, the coordinator helps students learn to self‑regulate and re‑engage productively with their learning. In alignment with the College’s commitment to trauma‑informed practice, the RTL Co‑ordinator recognises the diverse needs of students and implements strategies that prioritise emotional safety, connection, and positive behaviour support. Through a trauma‑informed relational approach, the co‑ordinator builds strong partnerships with staff, students, and families to promote wellbeing, learning and meaningful behaviour change. Working collaboratively with the Pastoral Engagement Team, the co‑ordinator oversees the operational and strategic processes related to the RTL, including the referral, documentation, and reintegration of students. They provide guidance to staff in managing challenging behaviours, contribute to case management discussions, and assist in developing proactive behaviour support plans and interventions. The RTL Co‑ordinator acts as an advocate for positive behaviour for learning by supporting staff capacity, supporting students to coregulate, empowering students to make responsible choices, and strengthening the College’s culture of care, respect and personal accountability. The RTL Co‑ordinator works collaboratively with class teachers and other staff members to ensure that whole‑school behaviour management processes, restorative practices, and consistent approaches to student engagement and learning are implemented. This includes supporting teachers, reinforcing shared expectations, and promoting a unified school‑wide commitment to positive behaviour, accountability, and student wellbeing. About you To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including: Experience in assessing and monitoring student progress identifying intervention needs, including for learning disabilities Previously developed teaching methods, materials, and assessments for diverse learning styles Having improved student outcomes, supporting diverse learning needs Collaborated with specialists to develop and coordinate interventions and support Fostered communication with stakeholders to organise and assist with intervention groups Tertiary Qualification at Associate Diploma / Diploma level or equivalent in Education Support For this position you are not required to be Catholic.
