Victoria State Emergency Service – Southbank VIC 2 positions available - Fixed Term, Full Time until June 2028 ROLE SUMMARY The Program Officer - Flood Risk Planning supports the Metropolitan Flood Risk Engagement Program by ensuring new flood modelling data is effectively applied to emergency planning, operations, and community engagement activities. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Officer works closely with Operations Officers Emergency Management, Community Resilience Coordinators and Operations Managers Unit Support across multiple Unit Support Teams to improve flood planning at the local, municipal, and regional levels. This role is responsible for enabling the development of Municipal and Regional Emergency Management Plan Flood and Storm Sub-Plans, Local Flood Guides and helping to deliver operational plans for VICSES Units. The Program Officer will contribute to consultation processes and prepare materials for key stakeholders and committees. They will also help to design and deliver flood and storm-focused exercises. The position needs adaptability to cope with competing priorities, strong collaboration and engagement skills, and an understanding of Victoria's emergency management framework to support the delivery of practical and coordinated flood planning outcomes across the region. WHO WE ARE Victoria State Emergency Service is a volunteer-based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events. As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and play an important role in supporting the Country Fire Authority, Fire Rescue Victoria, Parks Victoria and the Department of Energy Environment and Climate Action during emergency incidents.
