Join the Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. Base pay range A$138,000.00/yr - A$174,000.00/yr What You’ll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: Commercial & Procurement Expertise : Deliver branch-level support for sustainment and acquisition activities, respond to enquiries, and provide procurement advice. Tender & Contract Management : Assist with approaches to market, support tender evaluations, and contribute to contract development. Compliance & Governance Knowledge : Ensure adherence to Defence procurement policy, frameworks, and Commonwealth Procurement Rules. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication : Liaise effectively with Defence and industry stakeholders, demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills. Independence & Prioritisation : Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a Defence/public sector environment. What You’ll Bring Commercial & Procurement Expertise : Demonstrated experience in procurement or commercial roles, ideally within Defence or the public sector. Regulatory & Policy Knowledge : Strong understanding of Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Defence-specific commercial frameworks to ensure compliance. Independence & Initiative : Proven ability to operate autonomously with sound commercial judgement in a dynamic environment. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement : Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and manage relationships across Defence, industry, and ADF stakeholders. Project & Priority Management : Skilled in managing multiple priorities, supporting approaches to market, tender evaluations, and contract development within tight deadlines. Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
