Volunteer Online as a Conversation Partner ENGin pairs English‑fluent volunteers from around the world with Ukrainian learners for weekly online conversation practice. Participants are matched 1‑on‑1 based on preferences, interests, and availability to ensure an effective and mutually enjoyable communication experience. After a match is made, ENGin supports learners and volunteers throughout their participation in the program with tips, resources, and problem resolution. We screen every learner and volunteer to ensure their fit for the program, and provide training and orientation. Since launching in 2020, ENGin has connected over 26,000 Ukrainians with over 24,000 volunteers. 99% of our learners report breaking the language barrier after 3 months of participation in our program. During your conversations, you’ll practice English, learn about each other’s cultures, and offer an empathetic, authentic space for connection. No prior tutoring experience or knowledge of Ukrainian language is needed. We offer ample training resources, session materials, and flexibility to customize sessions to fit goals and preferences.
