Department and Position Department of the Premier & Cabinet WA – West Perth WA Level 5, $105,167 - $114,938 pa, PSCSA Agreement 2024 Position Number: DPC25070 Work Type: Permanent – Full Time Closing Date: 4:00 PM About the Unit The Department of the Premier and Cabinet has established the Native Title Future Acts Unit (the Unit) to provide strategic oversight and leadership of Native Title Act future act matters across the Western Australian (WA) public sector. This initiative enables the delivery of key strategic priority projects and supports the WA Government’s clean energy transition, decarbonisation and increased economic diversification. The Unit is part of the broader Aboriginal Engagement directorate and provides whole‑of‑government strategic direction and facilitation for Government‑led Native Title Act future act negotiations. It leads significant negotiations for the WA Government and coordinates advice across agencies. The Unit delivers three key functions: Future Acts Advisory and Negotiation; Future Acts Assessment and Triage; and secretariat and administrative support for relevant committees. These activities involve direct engagement with native title groups, Aboriginal communities and organisations and close collaboration with a range of WA Government agencies. About the Role The Project Officer assists in managing projects or components of complex projects, supporting the Unit’s leadership, coordination and advice on Native Title Act future act matters. Key Responsibilities Provide assistance for the management of projects or components of complex projects and advise on and support project development and coordination. Liaise with and advise stakeholders, report and coordinate stakeholder engagements, and maintain positive stakeholder relationships. Required Skills and Experience We are looking for team members with outstanding leadership characteristics. You will understand the Department’s objectives and take responsibility for achieving results, using information effectively and analysis to resolve problems. Demonstrate a willingness to further your knowledge and skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to influence and achieve desired outcomes. Permanent appointment: To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia at the time of applying.
