Sales Engineer – Workshop Fitouts & Technical Equipment Location: Sydney (with regular site visits & interstate travel) Salary: $80,000 – $96,000 per year (including superannuation) Benefits: BP Plus fuel card for work-related travel, company mobile number/SIM, performance-based commission About Us UNIPAC is a specialist in the design, supply and installation of premium workshop equipment and technical workspaces. The Role This is not just an “inbound quotes” role. As our Sales Engineer, you’ll be responsible for generating and converting opportunities. You will: Proactively create new business through outbound activity (networking, site visits, outreach, referrals), as well as managing inbound enquiries. Work with clients from first contact through to scoped proposal and handover into project delivery. Take ownership of smaller projects and support our Project Engineer on larger ones. Work closely with our Design & Technical Support Coordinator on layouts, concepts and documentation. Be involved in occasional hands-on work on the tools so you understand exactly how our solutions are built and installed. Manage occasional early-morning or evening calls to align with European suppliers’ working hours while maintaining balance. Key Responsibilities Sales, Lead Generation & Business Development Generate new business through outreach, networking, site visits and relationship building. Respond to and qualify inbound enquiries and convert them into actionable opportunities. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients in automotive, EV, industrial, motorsport, mining, manufacturing and related sectors. Quoting, Costing & Procurement Prepare detailed quotes, proposals, equipment lists and bill of materials. Liaise with local and overseas suppliers for pricing, technical information and lead times. Manage procurement of equipment for projects in collaboration with admin and project teams. Manage smaller/simpler projects from quote to completion. Support the Project Engineer on larger and more complex projects. Work with the Design & Technical Support Coordinator on preliminary layouts and documentation. Hands-On & Site Exposure Conduct site visits to understand client requirements, constraints and practical realities. Occasionally support basic hands-on work on the tools on site or in the workshop (within your capability) to deepen your understanding of how our designs and solutions are built. International & After-Hours Collaboration Liaise with international suppliers, particularly in Europe (including Italy and Germany). Join occasional early-morning or evening phone/Teams/Zoom calls to match European time zones. Depending on performance and business needs, participate in interstate and international travel (e.g. Europe, Japan, South East Asia) to visit key suppliers or attend trade shows and training. About You You might currently be in technical sales, estimating, an engineering role with client contact, or a similar environment – and you’re ready for a role with more ownership, variety and growth. You’ll bring: Some relevant experience in technical, engineering, automotive, EV, industrial, mining, workshop equipment or similar. Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical information. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, comfortable talking to both clients and suppliers. A comfort level with both client-facing work and occasional hands-on involvement on site. Commercial awareness – you think about margins, value, scope and long-term relationships. A proactive, accountable mindset – you’re motivated to help build something, not just clock in.
