Position Overview Working in a manufacturing environment, with frequent travel between Moorabbin and Geelong sites, the purpose of this position is to set and deliver the Health Safety and Environment strategy across all Marand operations. The role provides leadership, governance, systems improvement and expert advice to ensure a safe, compliant and high‑performing workplace. You will work closely with operations and senior leaders to uplift our safety culture, drive accountability, embed critical risk management and ensure our environmental responsibilities are met. This is a hands‑on, people‑focused role where visibility, influence and practical judgement are essential. Role Responsibilities Work in collaboration with the operations team, functional teams and ASDAM Safety to deliver strategy. Define and set HSE priorities, operational focus areas, and resourcing requirements for each site. Design and implement the Risk Management Framework in alignment with the Group Strategy. Drive continuous improvement actions and deliver targeted programmes to uplift safety culture, leadership capability, and frontline engagement. Act as the executive sponsor for serious incidents and high‑potential events. Ensure close‑out of investigations, including root‑cause analysis and systemic corrective actions. Track and report on organisational safety performance. Lead a small team of HSE Coordinators. Engage with and lead Health & Safety Representatives (HSRs) across the business. Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, WorkSafe requirements and all relevant environmental regulations. Lead environmental programmes including waste, hazardous chemicals, dangerous goods and ISO 14001 compliance. Oversee plant, equipment and facility safety including statutory inspections and machine safety requirements. Lead HSE audits (internal and external) and ensure close‑out of audit findings. This role will be well‑supported, working closely under the guidance of the Group OHS Manager and in collaboration with the wider group safety teams. Required skills, experience and qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety (or equivalent qualifications). Previous experience in an HSE management role within a manufacturing or engineering or similar high‑risk industries. Demonstrated expertise in critical risk management and safety systems improvement. Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and standards. Experience with environmental management systems and ISO 14001 compliance. Strong incident investigation capability including root‑cause methodologies. Experience planning and leading internal and external HSE audits. Demonstrated experience managing contractor safety and high‑risk work activities. Experience developing emergency response plans and coordinating site emergency drills. Capability in delivering HSE training and coaching to leaders and employees. Strong stakeholder engagement and consultation skills, including working with HSRs.
