Description Fantastic opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant to play a pivotal role in strengthening our financial performance and supporting firm wide decision making. About the Role This is a great opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant to take the next step in their career, taking carriage of key month end and year end activities, financial statements, reports and reconciliations along with managing financial accounting audit, compliance and regulatory obligations. Reporting to the Financial Controller the role is part of our friendly and collaborative finance team. This position can be based in either our Brisbane or Perth office. As a key member of our Finance team, you’ll oversee end-to-end financial accounting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement in our processes. You’ll work closely with senior leaders to provide financial insights and ensure best-practice governance across the firm. This position can be based in either our Brisbane or Perth office. Responsibilities Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong internal controls Ensuring accurate completion of accruals, balance sheet and bank reconciliations Maintaining and reviewing the general ledger and fixed asset register ensuring coding is complete and accurate, ensuring compliance with ATO guidelines Prepare and interpret financial statements and management reports, providing insights to the Financial Controller and firm leadership Oversee statutory and tax compliance (BAS, payroll tax, workers’ compensation) and coordinate with auditor on draft accounts, tax reconciliations, and distribution statements Reconciling fortnightly payroll, identifying variances to budget drivers, and partnering with human resources to ensure the accuracy of payroll data Managing financial reporting and controls including preparation, reconciliation, and presentation of monthly reports (profit and loss, balance sheet, cashflow) About You You are self-driven and motivated to proactively implement best practice ways of working while ensuring you remain trained and upskilled across your areas of responsibility. With proven experience as a qualified financial accountant your success in the role will be complemented by : A strong commercial mindset CA / CPA qualification Proven experience managing controls and risk within a finance function Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability Advanced MS Excel capability Providing guidance and coaching to junior team members Experience working with Aderant, expert time or similar practice management platforms Exposure to working within a professional services firm will be advantageous (law or accounting) At HopgoodGanim, you’re not just a small piece of a big machine; you’re a valued, integral member of the team.
