About YACWA The Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA) is the peak non-government youth organisation in Western Australia. YACWA operates primarily as a human rights organisation that seeks to address the exclusion of young people in a rapidly changing society. YACWA is widely respected and has a strong and diverse membership which includes policy makers, academics, youth workers and importantly, young people who are passionate about achieving positive and meaningful outcomes for the young people of Western Australia. About the Role The Sexuality, FIPV and other Projects Coordinator has responsibility for delivery of the Youth Educating Peers (YEP) Project, the All It Takes - FIPV Primary Prevention Project and other programs and projects as required. The YEP Project, funded by the Department of Health, supports and educates young people on relationships, sexual health, and blood-borne virus (SHBBV) issues. It does this by working in partnership with the WA youth sector and building the capacity of youth workers to create change and transformation in young people's sexual health behaviours. The All It Takes Primary Prevention Project, funded by the Department of Communities supports young people and the sector through knowledge and capacity building social media content, resource development and training and workshop delivery to prevent and respond to the gendered drivers of violence against women. Future programs or projects funded by other government line agencies, Lottery West or other funding bodies may be in scope for the Sexuality, FIPV and other Projects Coordinator. The contracts, deliverables and staff will have support and oversight by this role, if deemed appropriate. The Sexuality, FIPV and other Projects Coordinator works in collaboration with the YEP, FIPV Primary Prevention and other YACWA teams, to provide leadership and guidance on best practice engagement and delivery of youth SHBBV, FIPV primary prevention and other health and wellbeing activities. This position provides direct supervision of and support to the Sexuality, FIPV and other Projects Facilitator and support to project officers, peer educators, interns and youth consultants who work across the various programs and projects. This position works with other YACWA staff to provide advocacy and consultation on matters relating to sexual health, FIPV primary prevention and other health and wellbeing issues for young people to relevant sector stakeholders. The Sexuality, FIPV and other Projects Coordinator supports the successful delivery of project and program deliverables, ensures staff receive supervision, support and guidance, liaises with funding bodies and other stakeholders, works with the CEO to ensure all internal and external reporting obligations are met, works with the Finance Manager to ensure financial stewardship of all programs and projects, supports the collection of data and evaluation processes and contributes to the successful operation of YACWA. Key Tasks Oversee and lead the planning, budgeting, evaluation and reporting of project and program activities including community consultation, workshops for young people and the sector, attendance at expos and forums, development and delivery of educational resources and online content and advocacy. Provide leadership, guidance and support to the ongoing learning and professional development for all project and program staff. Liaise with program and project partners and other key stakeholders including government line agency contacts, WAAC and Luma. Collaborate with the sector, and provide advocacy and consultation, on matters relating to sexual health, FIPV Primary Prevention and other health and wellbeing issues for young people, to contribute to and further strengthen a shared understanding of best practice approaches in Western Australia. Stay connected to emerging research and developments in practice and health service delivery to ensure currency of information and resources. Ensure projects and programs develop sustainable resources and methods of delivery that result in longevity of project and program aims beyond funding. Other duties as required. Selection Criteria Demonstrated organisation and project planning skills. Demonstrated experience recruiting, supervising and supporting staff. Strong leadership skills including conflict resolution experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. An understanding of peer education and / or engagement models. Experience developing and delivering educational content. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with young people and support their skill development. Experience in risk assessment, safety planning and embedding safeguarding practices. Specialised and current knowledge in SHBBV and / or FIPV primary prevention practices. Demonstrated experience and skill in liaising with a wide range of stakeholders. Valid Working with Children Check & National Police Clearance. Current WA Driver's License. Reliable vehicle that can be used to travel throughout the metropolitan area. Capacity to undertake regional travel in WA as required. Qualifications in training development and delivery, youth work, sexology, health promotion or a similar field. Demonstrated experience engaging with young people from target communities including Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander young people, culturally & linguistically diverse young people, young people in out of home care and / or juvenile justice settings, gender and sexually diverse young people and young people with disabilities. Experience in developing social media campaigns and / or online content. Strong understanding of the youth, FIPV and sexual health services sectors. Experience managing budgets.
