Software Engineering Team Lead

We're seeking an experienced Software Engineering Lead for a hands‑on technical leadership position (approximately 50/50 coding and team management). You'll guide development projects across Microsoft .NET and modern technologies while managing the successful delivery of software solutions across the full development lifecycle. You'll bridge the gap between our development team and business departments, ensuring technology selections align with our business goals. Working closely with Business Owners, Product Managers, Analysts, and Developers, you'll provide both strategic direction and hands‑on code‑level support. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development Lead and mentor the development team through coaching, code reviews, and hands‑on technical support Establish and maintain high standards of code quality and development practices Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement across local and offshore team members Conduct performance reviews, one‑on‑ones, and career development planning Technical Delivery Design, develop, and maintain business applications using modern .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core) Lead modernization efforts transitioning legacy systems (WCF, jQuery, Knockout) to modern architectural patterns Design and optimise database schemas using SQL Server and MongoDB that support business processes Implement comprehensive testing strategies, security best practices (OWASP), and performance optimisation Research and evaluate modern software products, frameworks, and cloud technologies Project & Stakeholder Management Plan, coordinate, and oversee complete project lifecycles from requirements to deployment Collaborate with Business Owners, Product Managers, Analysts, and ITops. Translate business requirements into technical solutions and present progress to stakeholders Balance feature delivery with technical debt management and long‑term architectural health What We're Looking For 7+ years professional software development experience building enterprise‑grade applications Strong C# and .NET expertise with experience modernising from .NET Framework to modern .NET (8+) Modern stack proficiency: ASP.NET Core MVC/Web APIs, Entity Framework Core, SQL Server, MongoDB Legacy modernisation experience with jQuery, Knockout, or similar libraries Database design experience creating schemas that support business processes Testing, debugging, and performance optimisation expertise Async/await patterns, multi‑threading, and concurrency in enterprise applications Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) Proven leadership experience mentoring teams and conducting performance management Strong understanding of OOP, service‑oriented architecture, and enterprise patterns Secure coding practices (OWASP) and accessibility standards (WCAG) Excellent communication skills bridging technical and business perspectives Ability to influence technical and business decisions across the organization Self‑motivated with strong initiative for continuous improvement Collaborative team player who prioritises team success Highly Valued Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS) and cloud‑native development Microservices architecture and message queuing systems (RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Kafka) DevOps practices and Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions AI development tools (GitHub Copilot, Gemini, Claude Code) Open‑source contributions or community involvement Why Join Us?
