Senior Advisor, Social Work – South East Region Join the Queensland Department of Education as Senior Advisor, Social Work in the South East Region. Position: Permanent, Part‑Time (0.80 FTE), 58 hours per fortnight Location: Department of Education South East Regional Office, Hope Island About the Department The Queensland Department of Education values people, promotes leadership, innovation, and offers training, development and flexible work‑life balance. About the Role The Senior Advisor will provide professional supervision to school social workers across the South East Region and will work closely with the Principal Advisor and peer team. Key collaborative partners include Senior Advisors Social Work, Senior Advisors Psychology, Senior Guidance Officer, Corporate Services Officer, Principal Advisor Mental Health and Manager – Wellbeing Workforce. Qualifications and Requirements • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work.• Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).• Experience in leading and supervising social work practice. Your Responsibilities Develop statewide programmes, policies, and operational standards for social work services. Provide leadership and supervision to regional social workers in partnership with school management. Oversee research, development, implementation and evaluation of validated clinical practices and protocols. Offer strategic advice to senior officers for state‑wide service provision aligned with the Department’s Strategic Plan. Identify professional development needs and deliver training and development initiatives. Maintain effective communication networks with schools, other regions, government departments, professional bodies and stakeholders to support student wellbeing.
