Chief Financial Officer – Melton City Council

Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will provide strategic leadership across Finance, Technology (CIO), Commercial, Procurement, Fleet, and the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO). This role will play a key part in advancing Council’s asset management maturity—overseeing the financial side of $4 billion asset base—and ensuring enterprise projects are effectively linked to long‑term renewal and investment strategies. As a trusted advisor, the CFO will lead major commercial initiatives including strategic land acquisitions and sales, driving revenue‑generating initiatives managing the partnership for Council’s Atherstone Estate. A strong communicator and natural team player, you’ll play a pivotal role in telling the financial story of the organisation—articulating performance, progress, and potential opportunities to Councillors, the Audit and Risk Committee, and the community. The successful candidate will bring executive‑level experience in financial management and a proven record of delivering commercial outcomes within complex organisations. You’ll combine a strong understanding of private‑sector dynamics with a modern, solutions‑focused mindset—balancing risk, innovation, and accountability. A CPA or CA‑qualified professional, you’ll work closely with the Audit and Risk Committee, Victorian Auditor General’s Office and the Essential Services Commission, championing sustainable growth and sound financial governance. As a collaborative and influential leader, you’ll foster a culture of performance, teamwork, and smart investment—ensuring Council continues to spend wisely, generate value, and invest in the future of the City of Melton.
