As a key player in our healthcare team, you'll manage vital Wardsperson duties, assist with preparing patients for surgery, transporting patients from Perioperative Unit to Operating theatres, coordinating patient flow, and supporting staff and visitors with professionalism and care. Stay calm under pressure and communicate clearly to keep our ward running smoothly and compassionately. What You’ll Be Doing Safely transfer pre‑operative patients from Perioperative Unit to the Operating Theatres. Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including full body shaves (for cardiac patients) and use of appropriate lifting equipment. Assist nursing staff as required with patient care needs. Clean and prepare patients’ beds (DOSA, DO and Eye Beds), handle linen and adhere to infection prevention practices. Use correct PPE and wear appropriate theatre attire. Communicate effectively with patients, families and all members of the Perioperative Team including Nursing, Medical and Auxiliary staff. Assist in emergency situations and perform additional tasks directed by the Perioperative Nursing Unit Manager. Qualifications & Requirements Experience and/or willingness to learn new skills to support Perioperative services by appropriately preparing patients and beds to ensure safe transfer. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and commit to teamwork. Adherence to Manual Handling, Safe Work Practices and Infection Prevention policies and basic computer skills, including knowledge of hospital information systems. Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency for eligibility for permanent appointment to NSW Health.
