Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position is primarily based at the Nepean Hospital campus, involving consultation and liaison to Nepean Hospital and associated outpatient clinics. Applicants who expect to be eligible for Fellowship within 4 months and who have no more than one College-administered assessment to complete may be considered; if successful, the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed. Successful applicants also participate in a District-wide after-hours roster. This substantive position contributes to an interdisciplinary team that provides timely and need-adapted care to people presenting to general hospital and physical health settings with a range of clinical presentations and levels of need. The successful applicant works with the CL team to improve collaboration between mental health and other hospital services. Successful applicants will contribute to team expertise across a range of therapeutic modalities and participate in key clinical decisions. There is an opportunity to develop leadership qualities within this role. Demonstrated expertise and experience in providing effective, high quality mental health services in a psychiatric setting; demonstrated commitment to person‑centred, recovery‑oriented, family inclusive, trauma informed and need‑adapted principles of care. Demonstrated ability to support and work in collaboratively interprofessional contexts that include lived‑experience professionals; sound knowledge of psychiatry encompassing biological, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual domains. Experience in or capacity for supporting quality improvement and clinical governance activities; and demonstrated commitment to high quality care provision in the public sector. Familiarity with and support of basic, clinical, and applied research activities relevant to the needs of the Mental Health Service and its staff and the ability to draw on values and research concepts in the appraisal of evidence, guidelines, and quality improvement activities. Conditions of appointment align with the Health Services Act 1997, and the Staff Specialist (State) Award 2022 or the Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination.
