About the Role To provide a clinical management and consultation service to patients in Geriatric Outpatients with conditions applicable to the sub-specialty of Aged Care Medicine. Ongoing quality assurance activities at the Departmental, Divisional and District levels and additionally as directed by the Rehabilitation and Aged Cares Services Head of Department, Director of Medical Services and Director of Clinical Governance. The focus of this Geriatric service is non-admitted Geriatric patients requiring review and management from a specialist Geriatrician. This includes falls evaluation, memory evaluation, assessment for dementia and other geriatric syndromes. Services are provided at Mona Vale Hospital and Brookvale Community Health Centres. Purpose of the Position You will provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of clinical practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee. The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within NSLHD. This position is temporary with the possibility of temporary extension based on performance, funding and need. Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Geriatrics (RACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Geriatric Medicine. Demonstrated understanding of the aims of Geriatric Outpatients service and how to successfully achieve these. Demonstrated excellence in communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies. A valid NSW Driver's licence.
