About the opportunity The Manager Innovation Impact is a key strategic position within InVent, the University of Tasmania’s dedicated research commercialisation function which operates within the Research Division. As a wholly owned subsidiary InVent also reports to an independent board ensuring both autonomy and alignment with the University’s strategic goals. This role oversees a diverse portfolio of activity from designing and delivering programs that build research impact capabilities for academic staff to strengthening the Tasmanian innovation ecosystem and active contribution to identification and advancement of commercialisation opportunities that translate academic research into real‑world impact. InVent’s mission is to drive the successful commercialisation of intellectual property and research innovations through the most effective pathways delivering optimal outcomes for all partners while safeguarding and enhancing the University’s reputation. By fostering a culture of collaborative innovation InVent translates cutting‑edge technologies and world‑class research into real‑world impact advancing the University’s strategic objectives and contributing to economic and societal change on local, national and global scales. What you’ll do Design and deliver institution‑wide initiatives integrating internal resources and external providers to develop researchers’ knowledge and skills in research translation and impact. Conceptualise and manage an annual calendar of innovation networking and engagement events that connect researchers with industry, government and community. Represent the University in sector‑wide initiatives, conferences and consortiums to promote cross‑institutional collaboration and knowledge exchange. Co‑design and co‑host high‑profile events with stakeholders from academia, industry and government. What we’re looking for Demonstrated ability to design and lead the delivery of capability‑building programs for diverse research cohorts to develop a research impact culture and capacity. Experience developing innovation ecosystems that support research translation, commercialisation pathways and engagement with industry, government and community stakeholders. Advanced project and event management skills with the ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously and experience with impact pathway project administration including intellectual property management, spin‑outs and licensing. Exceptional communication and marketing skills, including experience with digital platforms and content development for academic and external audiences. Experience in the identification and evaluation of research commercialisation opportunities and supporting their advancement through effective, complex stakeholder negotiation and relationship management at all levels and across various sectors. Basic working knowledge of Australian Corporations Law and Intellectual Property Law particularly in relation to the commercialisation of research, the management of intellectual property and the formation and governance of spin‑out companies. Salary details Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $152,033 comprising a base salary within the range of $114,282 to $129,943 plus 17 % superannuation.
