Trading Executive

Our client is a major national leader in recycling and industrial materials, seeking an experienced Trader to join their high-performing Victorian trading team. This is a hands‑on commercial role suited to someone who enjoys being out in the field, building supplier relationships, negotiating deals, and driving growth across a fast-paced and operationally focused environment. The Role: Build and manage a portfolio of suppliers including scrap dealers, demolition contractors and industrial sites in order to drive profitability through strategic procurement. Conduct regular site visits to assess material quality, prepare quotes, negotiate pricing, and close deals. Monitor market trends, market influences and commodity prices to identify trading opportunities and mitigate risk. Coordinate closely with transport, operations, administration, and scheduling teams to ensure safe and timely pickups, processing, and delivery. Deliver on budgeted trading performance and contribute to the overall strategic growth of the recycling business. Your Background: Proven experience in commodity trading, with experience with metals, recycling or scrap waste being a plus. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse markets and identify a good sale based on all internal factors (cost, safety, transport etc). Track record of building and managing supplier relationships across multiple channels. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with a focus on delivering margin and maintaining long-term partnerships. Willing to learn, adaptable and a chameleon able to work with a range of clients.
