Head of SalesManufacturing Industry/FMCGOur client is a manufacturing business based in Leeds. They are passionate about innovation, excellence and creating value for their customers and they give everyone a voice and a platform to share ideas.Due to an internal promotion, they are now looking to bring in an inspirational and experienced Head of Sales to lead their sales team and drive the strategy forward. The department is on target for the year, the pipeline is solid and there are no fires to put out, this is more about refining what they do and how they do it. The Team is talented and motivated but inexperienced in their sector, so you ll work closely with them to develop and mentor them into the finished article. You ll demonstrate how to do things better, how to talk to the customer and help them prioritise their workload. You ll look at them individually to identify strengths and weaknesses and build personal development plans to help them meet individual and team goals.You ll pick up some key accounts to keep you abreast of industry news and market insights and through these you will demonstrate how to build long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs. Their customer base is global and as such there will be international travel, circa 25% of your time. The majority of this is planned but it can be reactive if there is an urgent issue and so it s crucial you can be flexible.Whilst this role is predominantly team and people focused, there are of course typical sales activities to lead such as preparing and presenting forecasts and performance metrics, implementing best practice, working cross functionally with the factory and marketing team to enhance the sales pipeline and streamlining processes to drive efficiencies.Your objective is to grow and develop the sales function with a holistic approach. To be successful in this role you ll need to have managed a team in a senior sales position and, crucially, must have manufacturing experience.
