About the Role The Friends’ School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Assistant – Access & Inclusion to join our Primary School team. We are looking for a supportive and adaptable educator who can assist students in their day-to-day learning, working closely with Access & Inclusion Teachers and classroom teachers to provide tailored support. The successful applicant will be passionate about helping students achieve their full potential in inclusive classroom environments and will be committed to fostering a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning space. These are ongoing, part-time positions, with the following options: Position 1: 25 hours per week (5 hours per day, term time only) Position 2: 19.5 hours per week (6.5 hours per day, term time only) Key Responsibilities Provide teaching and learning support to students, individually, in small groups, or within the whole class, under the guidance of Access & Inclusion and classroom teachers. Assist in the planning, delivery, and assessment of learning programs to support students with diverse learning, emotional, or behavioural needs. Implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and support their integration into classroom programs. Contribute to school events, excursions, camps, and Outdoor Education or Connections Days as required. Support the preparation and maintenance of learning environments to meet student needs. Maintain accurate student records and assist with reporting systems. Undertake professional learning to ensure current best practice in supporting students in inclusive classrooms. Uphold child safety standards, including mandatory reporting requirements, and promote a safe and empowering learning environment. Essential Qualifications & Requirements Certificate III in Educational Support and/or equivalent experience or qualification deemed relevant by the School. Understanding of the 10 National Child Safe Standards. High level interpersonal and communication skills with staff, students, and parents. Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Competence in supporting classroom management and technical learning needs. Current First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain. Ability to work safely in a school environment and meet the inherent requirements of the role. Alignment with the Purpose & Concerns and ethos of The Friends’ School. Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration (employment category) and a National Police Check (less than 6 months old).
