Legal Counsel (Construction/Infrastructure) The Company Our client is highly regarded across the construction, projects, and infrastructure sectors. With a strong reputation for technical excellence, commercial innovation and collaborative delivery, they have contributed to significant projects across Australia. Their work spans a diverse range of large-scale projects, encompassing EPC , Design & Construct , PPP and Alliance contracts . Known for their pragmatic approach and commitment to quality, the organisation partners closely with clients to deliver efficient, sustainable, and commercially successful outcomes. The Role With a growing portfolio of nationally significant projects, our client is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their high-performing legal team in Sydney. This role will see you reporting directly to the General Counsel. You will be responsible for offering legal support to the company. Additionally, you will: Provide strategic advice and legal guidance on both upstream and downstream contracts Provide high-quality commercial and legal support and contractual leadership to a growing portfolio of complex and diverse projects across all business streams Advising or facilitating external legal advice on material business issues and/or bespoke matters Reviewing, drafting, and/or negotiating a range of agreements Assisting internal clients to manage legal risk while aligning with business and strategic goals and priorities The Candidate The successful candidate will be a talented construction/infrastructure lawyer with a minimum of 4 years’ PAE (post admission experience) . You will have relevant construction experience at a well regarded law firm or similar in‑house role. In addition, you will have: Experience in drafting and negotiating both upstream and downstream contracts An ability to understand the bigger picture and to prioritise multiple tasks arising across multiple business lines Quality training (either in private practice or in‑house) An ability to provide pragmatic and timely legal advice within a complex commercial and operational setting Clear and persuasive written and spoken communication skills Negotiation and drafting skills Familiarity with the construction, building, infrastructure, and engineering landscape in Australia.
