Connecting energy professionals throughout Australia Location: Melbourne or Brisbane Role Overview The Construction Project Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of renewable energy construction projects, including solar, battery energy storage and associated HV electrical infrastructure. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with contractors, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities. Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Pre-Construction Review engineering designs, drawings, and technical specifications for constructability. Develop detailed construction schedules and project timelines. Conduct site assessments and support permitting, environmental, and land‑use compliance. Lead full project construction from Notice to Proceed (NTP) to Practical Completion (PC) and Final Completion. Manage large‑scale solar and BESS construction programs, including civil, mechanical, electrical and high‑voltage works. Management of EPC contract as well as BOP contracts and support during the negotiation. Maintain the master project schedule, risk register, and cost control processes. Drive project delivery in accordance with ISO standards, WHS regulations, and company quality procedures. Review risk register, propose mitigation measures and identify any potential opportunities. Construction Oversight & Site Coordination Manage daily construction activities and ensure adherence to project plans and specifications through the site manager. Supervise installation of renewable systems (foundations, electrical systems, panels, substations, civil works, etc.) with local staff. Monitor progress versus schedule and address delays or issues promptly. Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC) Perform inspections to verify quality of materials and installation. Ensure compliance with manufacturer requirements and engineering standards. Oversee testing, commissioning, and system handover procedures. Stakeholder & Grid Coordination Support Grid team with all activities related to grid compliance including registration packages; hold points, R2 testing, GPS updates, and commissioning plans. Liaise with local councils, regulators, and environmental authorities to ensure compliance with local approvals. Contract & Commercial Management Oversee EPC, O&M, HV contractor, and major equipment supplier contracts. Manage claims, variations, procurement timelines, and commercial negotiations. Ensure delivery meets contractual milestones (NTP, energisation, COD). Review and update project financial indicators and addressing management's questions. Lead regular site coordination meetings and maintain clear communication among all parties. Budget & Cost Control Track project expenditures and manage procurement and invoicing processes. Identify cost‑saving opportunities while maintaining safety and quality. Provide regular budget, progress, and risk reports to project leadership. Safety, Quality & Environment Lead WHS compliance aligned with Australian construction legislation and company HSE frameworks. Conduct site inspections, audits, and drive corrective actions. Ensure environmental management plans (EMPs) and cultural heritage requirements are implemented. Mentor project engineers, site managers, and delivery coordinators. Provide senior‑level reporting to executives on progress, risks, and mitigation plans. Communication with key stakeholders in a timely manner, addressing and resolving any holding points in benefit of the project. Foster a collaborative, transparent, and safety‑first project culture. Reporting & Documentation Maintain complete construction records, daily logs, and compliance documentation. Prepare and distribute progress reports to internal and external stakeholders. Ensure accurate documentation for commissioning, handover, and regulatory purposes. Required Qualifications & Experience 8–12+ years’ experience delivering large infrastructure or renewable energy projects in Australia. Proven experience in utility‑scale Solar PV and BESS construction (essential). Demonstrated expertise managing EPC and HV contractors. Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills. Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, environmental compliance, and quality management.
