This is an important role in our team and unique opportunity to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment, providing quality safety and security services to patients, staff and visitors in a mental healthcare setting. Experience in a health related field is highly desirable. Responsibilities The Health and Security Assistant is an important member of the multi-disciplinary team within the Sutherland Mental Health Service, Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit. The Health and Security Assistant will provide a local response to incidents, maintain general safety of the unit and interact with patients in a wide variety of situations and contexts. These include: Immediate response to critical incidents Escorting patients to other departments/appointments Assisting with the cleanliness of the unit Assist with daily unit activity program Ensure that daily environmental searches of the unit are being carried out Testing and recording of duress alarms on a routine basis Responsible for checking and maintaining equipment on the unit and ensuring it is in good working order Also the potential to work in any of the Mental Health Inpatient Unit as required Benefits and Additional Information An eligibility list may be created for future Permanent Full Time positions Up to 12 allocated days off each year (for full-time employees) in addition to annual leave Salary packaging options that reduce your taxable income and increase your take-home pay.
