The Centre of Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science is comprised of 15 groups that conduct internationally leading research in the field of microbial ecology and environmental systems science.
The Centre's Department of Microbiology and Ecosystem Science assembles an international, ambitious and committed team and offers an interdisciplinary scientific environment, cutting-edge laboratories and a creative working atmosphere.
The Doctoral School in Microbiology and Environmental Science at the Centre supports PhD students in the finishing phase of their dissertation project through short-term finishing contracts.
These employments are provided to students who have signed a doctoral thesis agreement and have already made significant progress in their doctoral thesis project.
One 3-month position is available for students of the Doctoral School in Microbiology and Environmental Science through this job announcement.
Your future tasks
:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration in the context of your doctoral thesis project, which means:
- Involvement in and finalizing of a research project as detailed in your doctoral thesis agreement
- Publications and presentations
- Teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of trainees and students
We expect you to make significant progress on your doctoral thesis through related milestones during the time of the short-term contract.
This is part of your personality

- Diploma or master's degree in biology, molecular biology, or equivalent qualification with signed doctoral thesis agreement
- Excellent academic and study records
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
