Job Description

Verisk is seeking a motivated Team Leader to join the Corporate Finance team based in Krakow. In this role, you will work alongside the Verisk Corporate Accounting teams in the US and globally to provide high-quality customer service to the Verisk business units and management team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of general ledger accountants, providing guidance, training, and support as needed,
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring equitable workload distribution and efficient task completion,
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to promote professional growth and development,
  • Review and approve monthly journal entries in Verisk’s accounting system, including accruals, prepayments, B/S and P&L postings,
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data in the general ledger according to US GAAP, Corporate Accounting policies, internal SOX control and procedures,
  • Review financial reports and analyses prepared by team members, providing insights and recommendations to management as needed.
  • Support the audit process by providing documentation and explanations for financial transactions,
  • Review and approve account reconciliations prepared by staff members,
  • Resolve complex accounting issues and discrepancies, providing guidance and support to team members as needed.
  • Actively participate and lead the monthly closing processes,
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and auditing departments.
  • Strengthen internal controls and mitigate financial risks by implementing effective control procedures and monitoring compliance,
  • Coordinate work transition from various location and lead special projects and initiatives as needed,
  • Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of accounting procedures,
  • Lead process improvement initiatives, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive change and innovation.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of work experience in general ledger or related role, with at least 2 years in supervisory or team leadership position,
  • Master’s degree in accounting or other relevant field required,
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing) required, basic German beneficial but not required,
  • Proficient in accounting systems (PeopleSoft or Oracle Fusion will be an asset) and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel-extensive knowledge of Pivot Table / Chart, Macros, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including US GAAP.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Proven experience in work transition, including leading teams through process changes, system implementations, or organizational restructuring.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve goals
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices within a team environment.
