As a  Technical Team Lead for our Website Development Team , you will lead a mixed team that creates a website experience that helps drive the retail brokerage business and supports our other US business initiatives.

We want to provide our customers with an efficient and engaging experience so they can learn about trading and the markets, and then move onto our platforms to effectively trade and manage their brokerage accounts. That means reliable releases and a responsive UX/UI by coordinating closely with stakeholders just as business partners, QA, Design, and Product/Project management.

What you will do

  • Help coordinate engineering efforts for a team comprised of varying levels of expertise
  • Ensure less experienced engineers and developers are receiving the necessary guidance and support to grow into strong contributors
  • Perform regular performance and career goal reviews of direct reports to ensure they are reaching their full potential
  • Submit promotion requests once reports have shown that their growth deserves more pay
  • Identify those who a struggling to meet goals and determine what can be done to make them successful again
  • Lead an agile development process and teach it to team members unfamiliar with the process
  • Lead agile ceremonies like Daily Standups and Retrospectives
  • Partner/collaborate with other teams
  • Concept/Design from the UX/UI team
  • Review/Testing from the QA team
  • Feature/Priorities from Product Owners and Project Managers
  • Collaborate with other engineers and managers to establish best practices and guide critical engineering and product decisions.
  • Proactively learn the business domain to better understand the business intent
  • Work on building a next-generation website based on the latest Web standards
  • Write and read application code using the Svelte.js / Ruby framework
  • Read and navigate an extensive Java code base that encapsulates shared  behaviour  logic
  • Improve the code quality of a large code base by participating in code reviews via pull requests

What you’ll need for this role

  • You’ve built complex websites either using React, Svelte, Tailwind, or using Ruby or NodeJS 
  • You’ve shipped to production, then learned, iterated, and deployed. 
  • A firm understanding of the technologies we use.
  • 4+ years of professional experience working as a software Team Lead / Engineer Manager
  • The ability to jump in and assist with technical challenges and help business stakeholders shape their visions.
  • A proven track record of team leadership
  • Experience trading equities, equity options, futures, or futures options is a plus.
  • Capable of deciding when a code change needs to be more substantial to accomplish a long-term goal vs doing what is necessary immediately.
  • Provide critical feedback on work in a professional manner .

What you will do
