At CES, we have ambitious targets to keep billions of drink containers out of landfill and transform them into resources that can be used again and again. To do this, we provide software and services (including financial accounting services) to recycling schemes around Australia.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, in this Assistant Accountant role you will support the Financial Accountant and wider finance team by helping to prepare financial statements, accounts, processing invoices and preparing statutory returns. You will help the team finalise month-end and year-end accounts, and you’ll interact with a variety of internal stakeholders including IT, contact centre and the wider finance team. You’ll use an enterprise-level ERP system (Oracle Fusion Financials) and help drive continuous improvement of our processes and systems.

Key deliverables of the role include:

  • Bank reconciliations for all bank accounts including daily consumer payments.
  • Reconciliation of weekly payments
  • Assist with month end and year end journals, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Reviewing and processing of scheme participant adjustments
  • Attending to client/customer related queries
  • Assist in Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable functions where needed.
  • Assist Finance team in ad hoc analytical tasks, reports generation and preparation
  • Assist with the calculation/processing of credit and debit adjustments, refund requests and write offs
  • Assist with the annual internal audit and external audit of the scheme.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to, particularly those relating to accounting and finance policies
  • Documenting, vetting and if required, changing processes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the role.
Desired Skills and Experience

About you:

  • At least 1 year of financial accounting experience is required
  • 3 years’ total work experience across the finance function 
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Financials or similar enterprise level ERP is required.
  • Experience with BI tools and reporting is a plus
  • Good Excel skills (incl Pivot tables, V-lookups) is a must-have
  • Strong and clear communication skills, with a customer service mindset (for working with internal and external stakeholders)
  • Open and direct collaborative working style.
  • Results driven, proactive, self-motivated and has the drive to take responsibility for deliverables.
  • A keen eye for process improvements and troubleshooting
  • Excellent at problem solving, with strong attention to detail.
  • Accounting related degree or equivalent work experience.

As well as a suite of SaaS products, our range of business services includes accounting, payments, brand & marketing, materials trading, HR, customer service and support.
