Master Thesis “Mixed Reality Algorithms”
- Center for Digital Safety & Security
- In the master thesis you will develop algorithms to scan and measure the real environment via MR glasses and to generate a virtual representation of this environment. Further, the generated mesh should be structured in elements like walls, doors, and windows; and visual markers should be automatically measured according to these elements.
- The goal of the master thesis is to develop a method to scan the real environment with the Magic Leap MR glasses, divide the recorded meshes and detect windows, doors, walls, and the floor within this mesh, and separate the mesh into those elements.
- It should be noted that the positions of the visual markers used for indoor localisation are automatically measured when scanning the environment. This helps to place markers for localisation everywhere in the training area.
- The developments are done within Unity3D. Native C++ libraries for detecting visual markers are provided and may have to be extended.
- You are expanding your know-how in the field of Mixed Reality and 3D reconstruction.
- You get an insight into applied research and have the possibility to work together in a scientific community.
- You will have not only the opportunity to discuss your work experiences and results with experienced scientific peers, but also to connect with other bachelor’s, master’s or PhD students.

Your qualifications as an
**Ingenious Partner**:

- Ongoing master’s studies in Computer Vision or Computer Graphics game engineering, digital art, mobile computing, interactive media or related fields of study
- Strong programming skills in C# and C++
- Good knowledge of Unity3D
- Experience with Augmented or Virtual Reality
- Interest in technology development and applied research driven by real-world problems expected
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team expected
- High level of commitment and team spirit
- Very good command of English

**What to expect**:
EUR 827,56 gross per month for 20 hours/week based on the collective agreement. There will be additional company benefits. You will be part of our international Young AIT network. As a research institution, we are familiar with the supervision and execution of master’s theses, and we are looking forward to supporting you accordingly.
