Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer

This position is located in the Thematic Support Section (TSS), Corruption and Economic Crime Branch (CEB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Section and the overall guidance of the Chief of the Branch. The incumbent will work in close cooperation with all relevant UNODC units.

**Responsibilities**:
Within the assigned authority, the incumbent will carry out a range of functions in support of the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). In particular, the incumbent will be responsible for the following specific duties:

- Support the work of the Section in the area of anti-corruption education and youth empowerment.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Global Resource for Anti-Corruption Education and Youth Empowerment (GRACE) initiative, an integral part of the Global Programme mentioned above, in accordance with the relevant approved project documents, funding agreement, United Nations policies and financial rules and regulations.
- Promote dialogue and partnerships between ministries of education, universities, academic institutions, schools, teachers’ associations and other relevant bodies, the private sector and civil society to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of activities to increase teaching on anti-corruption, ethics and integrity.
- Monitor and analyse programme and project development and implementation; review relevant documents and reports; identify challenges and issues to be addressed and initiate corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties; ensure follow-up actions.
- Monitor and review good practices, methodologies and programmes in promoting the role of education and youth empowerment in preventing and tackling corruption.
- Provide specialized substantive expertise on educational approaches and programmes that instill, at various levels of education, knowledge, concepts and principles of integrity.
- Liaise effectively with counterparts, partners and other stakeholders with a view to ensuring a multi-stakeholder approach to project implementation.
- Support the development, dissemination and assessment of programmes, courses, tools and other educational materials, including the organization and servicing of meetings of experts, training workshops, seminars and other events.
- Ensure coordination with existing UNODC initiatives in promoting the role of education and youth empowerment in preventing and tackling corruption; cooperate and coordinate with field offices and relevant entities.
- Work with the UNODC Advocacy Section to plan and deliver maximum strategic visibility of the initiative and its deliverables.
- Support fundraising through outreach, preparation of proposals and consultation with donors and counterparts; raise awareness of UNODC achievements and identify opportunities for technical assistance in the area of anti-corruption education and youth empowerment.
- Provide support in conducting consultations with governments, anti-corruption agencies, other oversight institutions, private sector entities and civil society to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of anti-corruption activities, with a particular focus on education and youth empowerment.
- Organize and prepare written outputs, e.g. policy and programme reports, background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, input to publications relevant to the work of the Branch, UNODC and the United Nations Secretariat as appropriate.
- Perform other work-related duties as required.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business, law, international relations, economics, political and social sciences or a related discipline is required.

A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
