As a leading company in the Austrian retail sector, REWE International AG develops innovative IT solutions for its corporate divisions. We are looking for a skilled Chief Data Platform Architect to lead the design and implementation of our data architecture on Google Cloud.

The ideal candidate will have experience with cloud platforms, scalable data pipelines, and custom ETL design. Additionally, they should be familiar with relational databases, programming languages such as R, Python, or Java, and data workflows via Kafka, Apache NiFi, or Apache Airflow.

Job Description
  • Data Architecture Design: Plan and develop an optimal data architecture on Google Cloud to support high-quality analysis and machine learning use cases.
  • Collaboration: Work with analysts, product managers, and backend developers to understand and implement data requirements.
  • Data Extraction and Loading: Support the design and implementation of new extraction, transformation, and loading processes from various data sources.
  • Methodologies: Utilize state-of-the-art methodologies (CI/CD) to deliver a future-proof, scalable data platform.
Requirements
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with Google Cloud and other cloud platforms.
  • Data Pipelines: Experience in creating scalable data pipelines.
  • ETL Design: Familiarity with custom ETL design and maintenance.
  • Databases: Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in R, Python, Java, or similar languages.
  • Data Workflows: Experience in creating data workflows via Kafka, Apache NiFi, or Apache Airflow.
  • REST APIs: Experience in communicating via REST APIs.
  • Data Transformation: Knowledge of dbt (data build tool) for data transformation and modeling.
