Research Opportunity in Hybrid Aeroacoustic Investigation

We are seeking a highly motivated master's student to work on a research project investigating the aeroacoustic noise emission from a rotating axial fan. The project involves modeling the fan as an Embedded Body (EMBB) on a stationary mesh using AVL FIRE M and open CFS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate aeroacoustic noise emission from a rotating axial fan using hybrid simulation
  • Model the fan as an EMBB on a stationary mesh using AVL FIRE M and open CFS
  • Analyze and compare flow and acoustic results against literature for validation
  • Research current methods for LES simulation of rotating fans with the fan modeled as an EMBB

Requirements:

  • Ongoing master studies in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with 3D simulation and meshing is an advantage
  • Programming skills are beneficial
  • English or German language skills
