About us: The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) is the peak Australian Rules Football body in Western Australia and plays a key leadership, governance and funding role to football throughout the State, whilst also driving the overall development and growth of the sport.

Job Description Reporting to the Head of Umpiring, the WAFL and WAFLW Operations Manager has a varied and dynamic role in shaping the present and future of umpiring in Western Australia.
Key Focus: Developing a high-performance culture with a focus on wellbeing and psychological safety.
Nurturing and empowering umpires and coaches to perform at their best.
Building a strong alignment with the AFL to ensure a successful umpiring pathway.
Utilising technology to enhance coaching and feedback mechanisms.
Fostering an inclusive environment where diversity and collaboration are valued leading to a psychosocial safe workplace.
Align with the AFL coaching modules and platforms to develop our umpire team.
Empower the coaches to play their roles and support their teams to make decisions creating a responsive and dynamic environment Create systems for effective coaching communication and feedback which helps individuals understand their performance, identify areas for improvement, and set goals for professional development.
Utilise the diverse background, experiences and skills of umpires and coaches to enhance decision making and problem solving.
Develop and implement effective policies, procedures, and systems.
Responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of the WA umpiring operational plan, as it relates to umpiring in WAFL and WAFLW competitions, and achievement of the key measures of success.
Desired Skills and Experience Experience Required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities A deep understanding of AFL laws and umpiring systems Experience in managing teams and coaching performance Demonstrated ability to achieve organisational outcomes A self-motivator, who achieves results autonomously or via teamwork Familiarity with WA Football systems and structures A tertiary qualification in business management or sports science Experience in training and developing programs All applicants will be required to present a current Police Clearance (no older than six months) and a Working With Children's Card.
