Join our Environment and Heritage team as an Environment Assessment Officer and play a crucial role in safeguarding biodiversity and promoting sustainable development.
Your expertise will help shape the future of our natural environment.
You will make an impact by
Providing assessments, advice, and referral reports on biodiversity values and offsets for development and planning referrals.
Reviewing development proposals on both private and public land to ensure best practice environmental management.
Offering technical advice on statutory planning referrals involving native vegetation, waterways, and threatened species.
Contributing to strategic planning documents such as township strategies and precinct structure plans.
Preparing responses to government inquiries and representing the Council on relevant committees and at events.
What you will bring
Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, statutory planning or a related discipline.
A sound knowledge and application of current local, state and federal planning policies related to environmental protection.
Ability to identify indigenous plant and animal communities and threatened species management.
Experience in reviewing and providing technical advice on planning referrals.
Developed analytical, research and report writing skills.
