Government and Government Relations Attorney / Government / Public Law Attorney in Brisbane, Queensland Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality legal services that meet the expectations of organization clients, compliance requirements, and professional standards. Achieve personal financial targets that contribute to the commercial business success of the practice group. Develop and maintain client relationships, applying organization Client Care expectations, delivering outstanding client service, understanding client needs, complying with legal service requirements, and supporting the delivery of new services. Contribute to marketing activities, including organization presentations, training, and publications, and work with and support other lawyers to achieve practice group plans. Further develop professional legal expertise and understanding of the organization through participation in development, training, and study opportunities, organization networks, and meet Continuing Legal Education requirements and other expectations. Supervise (as required) and/or support other practice group members. Provide a safe and supportive working environment by ensuring compliance with the APS Code of Conduct and applying department policies in work health and safety, diversity, discrimination, and harassment. Education and Experience: Entry in the Register of Practitioners of the High Court of Australia or the roll of barristers and solicitors of the Supreme Court of a State or Territory. For a Lawyer (APS5), generally at least 1-4 years of relevant post‑admission experience (PAE) or equivalent legal experience and knowledge of the Commonwealth legal environment. For a Lawyer (APS6), generally at least years of relevant PAE or equivalent legal experience and knowledge of the Commonwealth legal environment. For a Senior Lawyer (EL1), generally at least 5 years or more PAE and good knowledge of the Commonwealth legal environment. For a Senior Lawyer (EL2), generally at least 7 years or more PAE and good knowledge of the Commonwealth legal environment. Legal experience in the relevant field and in other areas of law relevant to the work of the organization. Commensurate with the level applied for, a strong understanding of areas of law in the relevant field (or, for more junior roles, the demonstrated ability to quickly acquire that understanding) and the ability to manage legal matters with important Government and client implications.
