Why this is an amazing opportunity: We are seeking Full‑Time Development Compliance Officer based in Newcastle/Hunter region. The primary responsibility of this role will be to assist our Registered Certifiers in the inspection of subdivision and land development works for delivery of subdivision certification services in the development industry. Responsibilities Conduct site inspections, oversee construction activities, and coordinate on‑site operations to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards for certification purposes. Prepare detailed reports on site observations and maintain accurate records through established documentation systems. Collaborate with Registered Certifiers to resolve design, drafting, and documentation queries throughout the construction lifecycle. Facilitate effective communication and coordination among clients, subcontractors, and subconsultants to support project delivery. Provide informed technical guidance to site personnel, clients, and internal stakeholders to support decision‑making and ensure quality outcomes. Support the Registered Certifiers with the assessment and issuance of certificates and meeting client expectations, where required. Input into the preparation of certification proposals for the registered certifiers, where required. Navigating the NSW Legislation Environmental Planning Instruments to determine development permissibility requirements and development standards. Assessment of plans and specifications for roads and drainage design compliance, where required. Assessment of plans and specifications and other documentation for subdivision work relating to land subdivision developments, where required. Assessment of plans and documents for the strata subdivision of building development, where required. Support management electronic job files and checklists for the certification work. Why we’ll love you Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, along with demonstrated experience working in the civil engineering field (or related industries). CPEng/NER certification under Engineers Australia or near completion of certification requirements (highly regarded). Registered Certifier (Certifier – Subdivision, Certifier – Road and Drainage, Certifier – Stormwater) under Fair Trading or near completion of registration requirements (highly regarded). Demonstrated understanding of the NSW planning framework, including legislation, policies, and regulatory requirements related to the subdivision of land. Extensive experience in land development and subdivision construction, with a strong background in site‑based operations and compliance monitoring (experience in local government role is highly regarded). Knowledge of NSW Planning portal or experience working with local government on planning/engineering projects, highly desirable. Customer focused, with demonstrated experience in exceeding client expectations at every interaction. Self‑motivated, resourceful, and proactive in your approach. Highly organised with excellent time management, prioritisation, and problem‑solving skills. The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to handle difficult situations. A professional and courteous attitude. Intermediate computer skills (MS Office) with the ability to adapt to new systems and processes. Have a current drivers licence and legal work rights in Australia.
