Barwon Timber is the leading timber and building product supplier to trade builders in Geelong and the surrounding region. We supply and provide a broad range of products and services to our customer base who cover the commercial, domestic and retail building sectors. An exciting opportunity has become available for a Team Leader in our hardware store. The purpose of this role is to lead and manage the operations of a division, focusing on improving sales and ensuring we continue to provide excellent service and knowledge to our customers. Building product knowledge and experience is essential. Responsibilities Lead, coach, develop and manage team members. Ensure we continue to provide excellent customer service. Manage the operations of the department including stock replenishment, store presentation and order picking and packing. Oversee all administrative tasks of the department including but not limited to POS receipting, staff rostering and other tasks as directed. Assist the manager to implement plans, strategies and procedures to help deliver sales targets. Sales reporting as directed by the manager. Identify any innovative products, trends or ways of improving productivity of the sales team. Identify new product ranges or markets. Work across teams and areas of the group of businesses. Contribution to team and business culture and business values. Skills and experience Experience in the hardware or building industry. A proven track record in sales, customer service and relationship building. A well-developed understanding of profit margins. The ability to work to and achieve sales targets. Well-developed communication and negotiation techniques. Well-developed numeracy, literacy and digital skills. The ability and desire to learn and apply new skills and knowledge and workplace procedures. Ability to build, lead and motivate a diverse team. Competent in scheduling, time management and delegating tasks.
