Communications Officer – QUT (Queensland University of Technology) We are seeking a Communications Officer to join Communications and Government Relations, Engagement, Chancellery Division. The role delivers strategic, timely and effective communications to QUT’s diverse internal and external audiences and leads cross‑functional initiatives that strengthen the university’s reputation, support institutional priorities, and enhance the student and staff experience. Job Details Term: Fixed‑term, full‑time until 30 September 2026 Remuneration: $120,443 to $131,749 pa (HEW7), inclusive of $101,775 to $111,330 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading Location: Gardens Point (hybrid option available) Reference number: 25651 Open to: Applicants who have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the appointment. Responsibilities Design, develop and implement integrated communication strategies across internal communications, corporate messaging, media relations and external engagement. Lead and coordinate campaigns, ensuring a consistent voice across all channels. Produce high‑quality written and visual content for a range of stakeholders. Collaborate with portfolios to achieve enterprise‑wide outcomes and support proactive and reactive communication needs. Maintain an out‑of‑hours roster for monitoring or crisis communications as directed. Qualifications Degree in communications, journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience. Proven track record of designing and delivering communication strategies in a complex organisation. Excellent organisational skills – ability to work within tight deadlines and balance competing priorities. Superior written communication skills with experience across multiple channels and formats. Ability to liaise with specialists and build productive partnerships with stakeholder groups.
