Qualifications & Experience Registered Nurse, level of registration as per the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Demonstrated ability to apply recovery approaches with individuals, families and communities affected by mental health conditions. Advanced community mental health nursing skills, including complex mental health assessment, risk assessment, crisis intervention and care coordination. Extensive and recent experience in community-based mental health nursing practice. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including effective engagement with Aboriginal consumers, families and stakeholders. Knowledge of medication used in mental health treatment and experience with dispensing and administering those medications. Current knowledge of legislative obligations under the WA Mental Health Act. Working knowledge of computer use and information systems relevant to the role. Current C-class driver's licence and willingness to travel, including overnight stays away from home. Position Profile This role provides advanced community mental health services to clients of the Kimberley Mental Health and Drug Service (KMHDS). The service is culturally secure, considering the emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing of clients. Key clinical responsibilities include mental health and drug and alcohol triage, acute initial assessments, risk assessment, crisis intervention, care management planning and implementation of care plans, and referral services to clients and their carers.
