Lead School Psychologist – Department of Education, Western Australia This is a permanent 1.0 position commencing Term 1, 2026. Role overview The North Metropolitan Education Region seeks a dedicated and dynamic Lead School Psychologist (LSP). In a self‑directed, collaborative team, you will be accountable to the Director of Schools and professionally accountable to the Chief Psychologist. Your practice will be guided by Departmental policies, guidelines and the Psychology Board of Australia’s professional standards. The role involves: Providing professional support and learning for all school psychologists, including supervision for provisionally registered psychologists. Ensuring practice meets the Departmental and Board standards, leading contemporary psychological practices. Developing and implementing programs, interventions and evaluations across mental health, learning, behaviour and disability. Advising the Director of Schools, principals and the system on assessment and response to complex issues, including emergency management. Building capacity, influencing policy and undertaking prevention programs through strategic partnerships. Leading professional development and practice standards of psychologists at all experience levels. Key qualifications Advanced Skills School Psychologist status (permanent). Evidence of a Highly Proficient skill set and application of scientific practitioner models. Demonstrated leadership in programs, interventions and evaluation. Ability to clarify and communicate complex concepts. Leadership of strategic partnerships for systemic influence. Engagement in professional learning communities and critical self‑reflection. Eligibility Honoured or eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or visa holder with the relevant work rights. Valid Working With Children Check. Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and a Screening Clearance Number. Complete Department induction within 3 months, training in Accountable and Ethical Decision‑Making within 6 months and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness course within 3 months. Complete any role‑specific training required by departmental policy.
