About You We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to play a key role in how we design, build, and scale AI capabilities across our product. You’ll be hands‑on, shaping the technical direction for AI integrations and collaborating with product, data, and platform teams to deliver real customer impact. The role As a senior technical leader in the AI team, you’ll work across the full stack—from backend systems and data pipelines to the design of how AI and LLM models are applied within our products. You’ll guide teams through trade‑offs in latency, accuracy, privacy, and cost, and help the organisation use AI safely, efficiently, and strategically. What you’ll do Lead AI system design and integration: Architect and deliver scalable, reliable, and secure AI features that enhance core product capabilities. Collaborate across teams: Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to embed AI in customer‑facing experiences that create measurable value. Set standards: Establish best practices for AI system design, prompt engineering, data handling, and model evaluation. Mentor and guide: Support and upskill engineers in AI integration, experimentation, and responsible AI usage. Drive improvement: Lead initiatives to optimise model performance, observability, and cost efficiency. Stay ahead: Evaluate emerging models, frameworks, and tools, and help shape our AI strategy. What you’ll bring Strong experience integrating third‑party or hosted AI/LLM services (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) into production systems. Solid understanding of data pipelines, system architecture, and prompt‑to‑response optimisation. Ability to balance trade‑offs in accuracy, latency, privacy, and cost when designing AI‑driven solutions. Experience leading technical direction for AI or data‑intensive products. Proven record mentoring engineers and influencing engineering standards. Excellent communication skills — able to explain AI behaviour, risks, and opportunities clearly to non‑experts. Nice to have Experience with orchestration frameworks, model evaluation tooling, or human‑in‑the‑loop feedback systems. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, GPU workloads, and AI observability tools. Understanding of compliance, security, and ethical considerations in AI deployment. Why Join splose?
