Do you love to dance and would like to share your skills with young people with disabilities? Emotion 21 - Changing the views of people with Down Syndrome – Rowville VIC The program volunteer or Mover is a support of the teacher in the class and their role is to assist the teacher to ensure each emotion21 participant is engaged, learning and participating to access the benefits of the program i.e. developing in movement skills (e.g. physical skills), experiencing the psychological benefits of the program (e.g. the joy of movement, new friendships, and the power of belonging in a community) and is being encouraged to grow in the social skills that come from working in a team environment. The role of the class mover can be likened to that of an assistant coach (with the teacher being the coach). The Mover encourages full participation from the participants in the class, believes in their potential and helps to bring out their best. Guided by the teacher and customizing your style to suit each individual's needs, your role is to assist the participants to develop their skills to the best of their ability. You are a role model for the participants in class with your contagious enthusiasm and positivity. The teacher may assign you different roles in the class such as assisting with behavior management of a small number of participants; one‑on‑one time with a particular individual who requires additional help; or being a role model for the class and following the teacher’s instructions. You demonstrate the emotion21 core values of CARE, RESPECT, FUN and LEARN in all your interactions and, when all else fails, you are not afraid to dance There are no pre‑requisite qualifications for this position; we are seeking a team player who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Down syndrome and their families. Volunteer duties: Creating a welcoming and engaging environment for families and participants Encourage, inspire, and motivate participation Act as a communication pathway between head office, parents and teachers Mark attendance rolls, set up and pack down of site and monitor OH&S standards within the venue Adhere to and promote compliance with Inclusion Foundation policy and procedures, processes, and vision Be involved in planning and executing local community performance events, including the annual concert in September Assist as required in promoting the emotion21 site Category : Arts & Culture Commitment : Regular – more than 6 months Time Required Thursdays 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM & 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Term 1: 01/02/2024 – 28/03/2024 Term 2: 18/04/2024 – 27/06/2024 Term 3: 18/07/2024 – 19/09/2024 Term 4: 10/10/2024 – 19/12/2024 Training: Yes #J-18808-Ljbffr
