Overview Our long-serving Horticulturist is retiring, and Green Acres Golf Club is now seeking an experienced and motivated Horticulturist / Vegetation Manager to join our Course Maintenance leadership team. This is a key hands‑on and supervisory role responsible for implementing our Vegetation Management Plan (VMP) and maintaining all vegetation across the golf course and clubhouse surrounds. Working alongside the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, you will play a major part in shaping the landscape and presentation standards of our club. Key Responsibilities Daily Operations Work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent as part of the senior leadership team. Oversee and train staff on all horticultural tasks as directed. Manage revegetation and horticultural projects to meet timelines and stay within budget. Maintain regular communication with the Superintendent regarding progress and priorities. Ensure all staff follow correct PPE and safety protocols. Coordinate and supervise contractors, ensuring compliance with club policies and procedures. Continually review the club’s VMP and provide recommendations that align with long‑term goals and future works plans. Adhere to all club policies and procedures at all times. Human Resources Advise the Superintendent when additional staffing may be required. Maintain accurate training and chemical application records. Attend training courses and professional development as directed. Attend Course Sub‑Committee meetings when requested. Communication Maintain strong working relationships with the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, vegetation consultants, and external contractors. Participate in weekly departmental meetings to communicate current and upcoming works. General Course Maintenance Due to the workload and focus of this role, day‑to‑day course maintenance duties will generally not be required (except during Club Championships and major events). Qualifications & Skills Formal qualification in Horticulture, Arboriculture, Landscape Management, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in horticultural or environmental land management roles. Strong understanding of plant health, revegetation practices, weed identification, and pest/disease management. Experience supervising or training staff. Ability to interpret and execute Vegetation Management Plans (or similar land management documents). Sound knowledge of safe work practices and PPE requirements. Strong communication and organisational skills. Competency in record keeping (e.g., chemical applications, training records). Chemical Accreditation (ACUP or equivalent). Experience working in golf course, sports turf, or large‑scale landscape environments. Chainsaw operation or arboricultural experience. Experience coordinating contractors.
