We are currently seeking passionate sommeliers or junior sommeliers to join our wine team in the Sofitel precinct, working across both Tilda and Delta Rue, two venues which have recently achieved 3 goblets at the Wine List of the Year Awards. About the Venues: Tilda is an “Australian Grill”, a luxe 110-seater (which includes a 12-person private dining room). Serving fresh and dry-aged fish and shellfish, with sauces celebrating the seasons and local produce, the menu will shine a spotlight on Australian ingredients. The wine list will likewise lean local, acting as a love letter to Australia’s most important winemakers, regions and grapes, with illustrious labels alongside more contemporary, progressive makers. The cocktail menu will comprise a tight selection of classics poured tableside and infused with local botanicals. Delta Rue is striking and bustling restaurant on level 5 of the Sydney Sofitel Wentworth with Vietnamese-French cuisine. Delta Rue evokes the faded old-world elegance of Hanoi’s Old Quarter in the 1920s, offering a piece of unique escapism to our guests. An extensive and wide reaching wine list compliments the bold flavours to help provide a distinctive experience unlike any other in Sydney. About the Job: As we continue to grow and expand trading hours in warmer months, we are on the lookout for a sommelier or junior sommelier to join the team. You play a key role in driving the beverage performance and overall service standard of the venues, while also supporting all areas of service to ensure a smooth operation for the venues. Key Responsibilities: Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional wine related service Impart your passion for wine and all things beverage with the team, and drive education through training sessions and briefings Stock maintenance, ordering and cellar organisation Join the senior wine team in tastings to help shape the wine lists Support the operations of the restaurant with a willingness to jump into multiple areas Uphold compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements Requirements: Previous experience in a wine service related role, preferably in a high-volume venue Strong wine knowledge and passion for continuous learning and sharing with others. Exceptional guest service and communication skills, with a flair for storytelling. Experience in team leadership, training, and performance development. Familiarity with stock management systems, supplier coordination, and beverage cost control. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to the hospitality industry, including RSA. Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. What Will You Get?
