Manager, HSE, HOR – West Pharmaceutical Services HSE Manager for West Pharmaceutical ApS in Horsens. An exciting HSE challenge in a well‑functioning organization. About The Company West Pharmaceutical Services Danmark ApS manufactures and markets special rubber and aluminum seals for the pharmaceutical industry. The company employs 324 people in Horsens and is a Danish subsidiary of the international group West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc., which employs approximately 12,000 employees globally across 26 sites. Further information can be found on Post Reporting directly to the Director in Horsens and in dotted line to the global HSE organization, you will oversee the HSE responsibilities at the Horsens site. You will ensure compliance with all relevant legal requirements and internal regulations for the working environment, environment, safety, and internal procedures. A strong focus on safety is expected; however, it will be an advantage to have experience in a technical manufacturing setting. You will be administrative in ensuring reporting and KPI compliance, while also acting as the operational and active authority for contingency plans and crisis situations. You will tie together the entire HSE area at the location in Horsens, working closely with the rest of the organization. The position does not include direct management of staff. Your Daily Tasks Will Include Manage day‑to‑day HSE enquiries, provide technical support, and resolve safety and health challenges. Guide and assist AM representatives in daily safety work, including holding meetings. Prepare risk assessments and analyses of accidents and near‑misses. Maintain an updated contingency plan adapted to the Horsens site. Educate the organization about safety and working environment. Identify, develop, and implement local HSE programs and policies. Maintain safety systems (e.g., chemical and waste management). Report relevant KPIs to the global HSE organization. Collaborate with other factories in the West Group. Handle ad‑hoc tasks as required. Professional Qualifications Trained engineer with at least a bachelor’s degree. Minimum 5 years of practical experience in a similar position within a manufacturing company. Broad technical knowledge covering technology, mechanics, electricity, chemistry, machines, chemicals, ergonomics, and behavior. Ability to run HSE projects independently and implement necessary improvements. Solid knowledge of working‑environment legislation and safety in workplaces. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Personal Qualifications High personal drive with a positive mindset and good mood. Strong collaboration and coaching skills across the organization. Excellent communication abilities for teaching and navigating all organizational levels. Curiosity, structured approach, and continual learning mindset. Job Summary Responsible for implementing the WEST Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) strategy and fulfilling duties as a registered Safety Officer and Fire Safety Manager for all sites. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Implement HSE strategy and annual budget recommendation. Provide guidance and oversight to direct reports, including supervision and disciplinary actions where necessary. Lead and guide the site HSE committee. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and environmental risks, taking appropriate actions. Conduct and organize HSE audits, training, meetings, and follow‑ups. Develop, maintain, and ensure effective emergency response procedures. Organize and conduct CERT audits and other relevant drills. Coordinate with local authorities and manage license renewals. Manage HSE incidents and non‑conformance investigations, tracking corrective and preventive actions to closure. Review internal HSE policies and practices for currency and appropriateness. Implement HSE policies and procedures that ensure a safe and healthy work environment compliant with legislation and regulatory requirements. Lead HSEMS and efforts to control risk and achieve continual improvements beyond compliance. Facilitate HSE aspects of any shifting of facilities or equipment. Collect, analyze, and report site HSE KPIs, including improvement plans. Partner with all functional area management to create a safe work environment. Liaise with global site HSE leads to enhance safety culture and systems at West. Support site incident reporting processes to ensure effective investigation, corrective actions, and best practice sharing. Investigate and recommend controls for causes and potential causes of accidents, hazardous material exposure, and ergonomic hazards. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Health and Safety, or equivalent required. Work Experience Minimum 8 years of professional experience in compliance with local HSE legislation required. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Industrial site production environment experience. Experience in Lean/Six Sigma an added advantage. Good written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills; ability to interface with employees at all levels; good organization, time‑management, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills; excellent computer skills (MS Office). Experience managing local authorities and contractors. License and Certifications Certified Fire Safety Manager required upon hire. Travel Requirements Up to 13 business days per year (5%). Physical Requirements Sedentary work with occasional exertion up to 10 lbs (4 kg). Frequently or constantly lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling objects, including the human body.
