Finance Project Officer

A Local government client is seeking a Finance Project Officer to join our team on a contract until June 2026. The purpose of this role is to provide financial analysis, accounting, and support to QRA funded disaster recovery projects. You will be instrumental in helping to manage high-value works, which are in excess of $90 million for the disaster recovery program. Key responsibilities include: Building a robust understanding of QRA grant funding criteria, focusing on eligible expenditure and the claims process. Reviewing all transactions against the approved scope and grant funded eligibility to ensure costs are correctly reported and claimed. Developing a standard suite of monthly financial reports to meet the needs of disaster officers, contract managers, and QRA. Providing financial information to PM consultants and Council disaster management officers to facilitate the review and compilation of claims. Posting journals to move costs to ensure accurate and optimised funding recovery. About You Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience: Demonstrated experience in local government finance, producing financial reports in accordance with relevant accounting standards and legislation. Experience applying the practical principles of cost accounting, specifically cost assignment and allocation in an activity-based costing environment. Demonstrated proficiency in integrated financial systems, databases, spreadsheets, and personal application software. Well‑developed analytical and interpretive skills with a proven ability to exercise initiative and judgement. High-level communication and interpersonal skills to deal confidently with people at all levels.
